Free AI Agents in 2026: 9 You Can Try Without a Card, and What Each One Allows

Free AI agents in 2026: nine you can try without a card, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Manus, Genspark, Perplexity, Meta's Muse and Jobbit, compared on what each free plan actually allows, which can browse and act for free, where the limits bite, the first paid price, and ten free tasks to start with.

Free AI Agents in 2026: 9 You Can Try Without a Card, and What Each One Allows
Read in:

Every AI product now has a "Start free" button, and every one means something different by it. One gives you unlimited chat but keeps the agent that actually does things behind a paywall. One gives you 300 credits a day that run out halfway through a research job. One is free in the United States and not yet anywhere else. You find out which is which after you have signed up.

This guide reads the small print for you. It compares nine free AI agents on what the free plan actually allows, which can browse the web and act for you without paying, where the daily limits bite, what the first paid plan costs, and which to pick for the thing you want to do. Every plan page was read on 8 October 2026, and where a figure comes from a published round-up rather than the company's own page, the text says so.

Want to skip the comparison and give an agent a real job right now? Start on Jobbit: 100 free credits a day, no card, and the agent can browse, build and research on the free plan.

How we compared them

  1. The free plan as published. What the company's own pricing or help page says, read on 8 October 2026.
  2. Whether the agent part is free. Many products give chat away and charge for the mode that browses and acts. We say which.
  3. The limit that bites first. Daily messages, credits, model size or region.
  4. The first paid price. So you know the cost of outgrowing the free plan.
  5. No invented quotas. Where a company does not publish a number, we say so rather than guess.

The column that matters is the third one. In 2026 "free AI" usually means free chat, and the agent, the part that opens a browser and finishes a job, is the thing you pay for. Three of the nine let you run a real agent task without paying: Manus and Genspark within a daily credit allowance, and Jobbit with 100 credits a day. Muse joins them if you are in the United States.

Two notes on sources. ChatGPT's free plan changed in August 2026, when text chat became unlimited on its smallest model, as Engadget reported. Claude's free plan features are listed on its pricing page, and Google's on the Google AI plans page. Manus and Genspark publish their plans on pages that load their figures dynamically, so the daily credit numbers above come from 2026 pricing round-ups and are worth confirming on the day you sign up.

The five catches in "free"

  • The agent is the paid part. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Copilot all give away chat and keep the browsing, booking, task-completing mode for subscribers, or for a region. Read the third column before you plan your week around a free plan.
  • The smallest model. Free tiers usually run the lightest model. It is fine for everyday tasks and noticeably worse at long documents and careful reasoning. Jobbit's Free plan runs its Lite model plus two named models.
  • The daily cap resets, the monthly cap does not. Manus's free credits refresh daily but have a monthly ceiling, according to the round-ups; a research job that reads many pages can use a day's allowance in one go.
  • Adverts and training. ChatGPT shows adverts on its free and Go plans in the UK, and free plans at several companies use your conversations for training unless you opt out. Jobbit shows no adverts.
  • Region. Muse is free in the United States first, and Gemini Agent is US only. A UK reader comparing on price alone will be disappointed.

Which free agent for which job

You want to learn what AI can do by chatting

ChatGPT or Claude. Unlimited or generous chat, web search, files, and no card. Neither will do anything for you on the free plan, but both will explain, draft and summarise all day.

You want answers with sources

Perplexity. Every answer comes with citations, and the free plan is enough for a few careful questions a day. The Comet browser is a free download with page summaries built in; its Computer agent, which does tasks, is on Pro.

You want an agent to actually do a task, free

Jobbit, Manus or Genspark. All three run a real agent on the free plan. Jobbit's 100 credits a day cover a few real tasks with the browser visible to you, and anything it builds gets a temporary preview; Manus and Genspark run within daily credits on their lighter models.

You want to build something and keep it online

Jobbit. The free plan builds and previews it; Go at £7 a month keeps one small app or site live on your own domain with 2,000 credits a month. Our guide to getting a free website compares the other routes.

You are in the United States and curious

Meta's Muse. It launched in September 2026 with a free tier for over-18s, with paid Power and Maximum plans above it. Our comparison of the best multipurpose AI agents sets it beside Manus, Genspark and Jobbit on the paid plans.

10 free tasks to try this week

Each of these fits inside a free allowance and shows what an agent does that a chatbot cannot.

  1. Compare three prices. "Find the three cheapest places to buy this printer cartridge, with links." Research with sources, five minutes.
  2. Turn a photo into a table. Upload a receipt or a menu and ask for a spreadsheet.
  3. Summarise a long document and ask three questions about it.
  4. Draft a complaint letter with the reference numbers from a photo of the bill.
  5. Plan a day out within a budget, with opening times checked on the venues' own sites.
  6. Rewrite a job advert in plain English, then in your own tone from one example.
  7. Build a one-page site for a club or a side project and preview it.
  8. Check a supplier. Companies House, reviews and news in one summary.
  9. Make a poster for a school fair, with your edits.
  10. Set up a weekly reminder that checks a price and tells you when it drops.

Our guide to 12 everyday jobs to hand an AI agent turns several of these into a first week, and our first week with an AI agent does the same for a small business.

How to make a free allowance go further

Credits pay for the text the model reads and writes and the tools it calls, so a task that reads thirty web pages costs more than one that reads three. Four habits stretch a free plan a long way.

  • Give it a scope. "Check three sites, not all of them." "Spend five minutes."
  • One job per task. A task that drifts into five jobs spends five jobs' worth of credits.
  • Reuse instructions. Save your style and rules once, so the agent does not re-read them in every chat.
  • Check the first result before asking for ten variations. Most credits are wasted on repeating a request that was unclear the first time. Our guide to the mistakes beginners make with AI agents has the full list.

How Jobbit's free plan is different

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Manus and Meta's Muse all start you with a conversation. Jobbit starts you with a job, and the free plan includes the agent, not just the chat.

  • The agent is free, not just the chat. 100 credits a day, no card, and the browser, research, documents, images and app previews are all on the free plan.
  • You can see what it is doing. The agent browser shows every page and lets you take control, so a free task is also a lesson in how agents work.
  • It builds and previews. A site, a tool or an automation gets a temporary preview on the free plan; Go at £7 a month keeps one small app live on your own domain.
  • No adverts, no training on your work by default.
  • A person when needed. If a task turns out to need a tradesperson, a designer or an accountant, the same agent briefs a vetted professional from Jobbit's human network and holds your payment in escrow until the job is done.
  • Nothing to install. It runs in the browser on any device.

Your plan for this week

  • Day 1: pick the job you want done, not the product. Use the "which free agent" section to match them.
  • Day 2: sign up for one free plan, without a card, and run task 1 from the list.
  • Day 3: run a task that needs the browser. If the product will not do it free, you have your answer.
  • Day 4: save your style and rules as instructions so every task starts informed.
  • Day 5: decide whether the free plan covers your week. If not, the first paid step is £4.50 to £7 a month, and Jobbit Go at £7 includes an app of your own kept live.

Frequently asked questions

Are there any AI agents that are completely free?

Free plans exist on all nine products above, but only some include the agent part. Jobbit gives 100 credits a day for real tasks with no card, and Manus and Genspark run agent tasks within daily credits. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Copilot give chat away and charge for the agent mode.

Is ChatGPT's agent free?

No. Text chat became unlimited on ChatGPT's free plan in August 2026, but the agent mode that browses and completes tasks is on the paid plans, and the free plan shows adverts in the UK.

Which free AI agent can browse the web for me?

Jobbit on its free plan, with the browser visible to you, and Manus and Genspark within their daily credits. Perplexity's Comet browser is free to download, with its Computer agent on the paid plan. Meta's Muse is free in the United States.

Do I need a credit card to try an AI agent?

No. None of the nine free plans here asks for a card to start. Paid plans begin at about £4.50 to £7 a month.

How many free credits do I get on Jobbit?

100 credits a day with no card, enough for a few real tasks. They do not carry over, and Go at £7 a month adds 2,000 credits and keeps one small app live on your own domain.

Is Meta's Muse available in the UK?

It launched in the United States in September 2026 with a free tier for over-18s. UK availability had not been announced when we checked on 8 October 2026.

What is the best free AI agent to start with?

The one that will do your first real task without paying. Start on Jobbit: 100 free credits a day, no card, the agent included, and Go is £7 a month if you want to keep what it builds online.
